dear rain and clouds and wet maple leaves, dear evergreens and pinecones, dear mist and frost and frozen puddles, and thick fog illuminated by streetlamps, dear soft grey sky and perpetual oregon drizzle, and cold fleeting sunshine that makes the dew sparkle,
i grew up with you and loved you but never fully appreciated you. now that i’m home i realize how much i need you.
thank you.

goodbye, finals.

…portland, i’ll be home tonight.
because course registration worked,
i’m in the classes i wanted,
and it’s raining outside.

or at least, it drizzled. i couldn’t believe how rain-starved i was…i spent my entire spanish class staring out the window at the tiny drops and wishing i could be outside.
when the sun comes out during winter in portland, i can never focus - i have to go outside and enjoy it before it disappears. i guess the same is true of california rain.
today it’s clear again…cloudless blue sky and perpetual bright sunshine, but i can still see some leftover puddles and patches of damp on the road.
it’s making me homesick, a little.
